Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

1. Geospatial Technology Applications & Opportunities For AGTECH Start-Ups
Workshop Jointly Organized by Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) &Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC)
The Indian agri-food tech sector has surged from 43 start-ups in 2013 to over 3,000 by 2023, driven by innovations in digital technologies. These advancements, which include crop yield estimation, risk management, and autonomous farm mechanization, leverage geospatial technologies like remote sensing, GPS, and GIS to optimize farming practices. The integration of satellite data, weather observatories, and mobile data collection systems promises a robust digital agricultural ecosystem, bolstered by government initiatives such as AgriStack and the Krishi Decision Support System.
Despite this progress, challenges persist, including awareness on data availability, data gaps, data quality issues, Duplication of efforts in data generation and unorganized data collection systems. The two-day workshop on 'Geospatial Technology Applications and Opportunities for ag-tech start-ups,organized by RICH and MNCFC was planned & organized to initiate dialogue among the various stakeholders to understand their challenges and highlight emerging opportunities to build solutions and collaborations.
Purpose of Workshop
The overall objective of the workshop was to appraise the participant on opportunities available for developing innovative geospatial-enabled technology solutions. Specifically, the workshop focused on:
- Awareness building among participants about the vast landscape of agriculture data availability and its accessibility. Presenting use cases that feature geospatial technology applications in agriculture. Testing models using datasets provided by MNCFC.
- Creating awareness on digital agriculture initiatives led by DAFW, MoAFW. Mentoring start-ups on resolving their technology platform challenges & assist with upscaling models.

Projects
1. Feasibility of Innovation Hub at ISARC
RICH coordinated the development of a roadmap document for IRRI South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC) to establish an innovation hub supporting agtech start-ups in rice-based cropping systems. The project aimed to benefit ISARC and required INR 2.5 lac for Phase 1. The impact included assessing the feasibility of the innovation hub, with the possibility of extending the project to a co-business incubation initiative over 3 years.
2. UNDP
To map Climate Resilient Agriculture practices in the UNDP-Data on the Climate Resilient Agriculture (DiCRA) platform to make them available for scientists and practitioners for adoption across the world. achieved milestones : 1. Identified 25 climate-resilient agriculture practices in Telangana through ethnographic studies.
