Agri Hackathon

At the Agri Industry Research Meet conducted by the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) and Vaagdevi Group of Colleges, 39 farming problems were identified. To find the best solutions, RICH and its partners have decided to hold the Agri-Hackathon—a Battle for the Best Ideas between start-ups, researchers, farm innovators, NGOs, students, and other agencies.

Identified Challenges

1. Mechanised puddling, seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting of fields and plantation crops
2. Cost-effective technologies for enhancing the efficiency of existing agro-machineries
3. Monitoring and management of water quality, soil fertility, soil health, crop growth, and crop health (pests and diseases, macro- and micro-nutrients, water, etc.)
4. Precision livestock farming and aquaculture
5. Precision agriculture, including applications of sensors (such as wireless sensor networks), information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, internet of things, drones, etc.
6. Blockchain technology for traceability of agri-produce from the farm to the fork
7. Cost-effective sensor-based real-time monitoring and management of storage and transport systems
8. Development of devices for assessing quality, grading and sorting, processing of agri-produce
9. Solar-powered technologies for farm operations and post-harvest drying and storage
10. Innovative products from agro-residues

Competition requirement

1. Build prototype for validation by mentors and the jury

Outcomes for winners:

1. Prize money:

1st Prize: 30,000/- INR
2nd Prize: 20,000/- INR
3rd Prize: 10,000/- INR

2. Support by Vaagdevi Incubation and Business Accelerator (VIBA) and ACIC -CBIT for 1 year.
